Summer is a great time of year, especially for summer fashion and beauty trends.
While the fashion industry won’t see much of a hit as bloggers continue to dazzle us on a day to day basis with creative and colourful summer looks, the beauty industry has taken a hit.
With most of the country adhering to strict social-distancing guidelines, including wearing face coverings in public places where it is difficult to avoid large groups of people it means only half of our face is visible during most social interactions.
So what trends are we already seeing and what trends are we likely to see through the summer?
Skincare is going to be a big summer trend as face coverings have been proven to cause irritation, rashes and acne!
Hydration moisturisers and fragrance-free cleansers will be our new best friends.
Go big or go home. With only half our faces on display, we only have one feature to showcase and make-up artists all over Instagram are already putting together, bright and beautiful eyeshadow and liner looks to match any mask.
There are some amazing BOLD eye trends to try this season, including neon accent inner corners, floating eyeliner, bright mascara, watercolour eyeshadow, pastel eyes and colour blocking.
The Structured Brow
There is always a brow trend and this year it’s the structured brow.
The last couple years has seen the unkept brow, the ‘I woke up like this’ brow and the bushy, overgrown brow. But not this year.
This year we say hello to a STRONG and POLISHED eyebrow trend.
Neautral shades are ALWAYS in season and some make-up artists are advocating that when it comes to face coverings, it is best to keep your make-up neutral and light, so it’s easier to touch up later.
In fact, South Korea has seen a fall in the amount of bold and bright make-up purchased over the last few months, with popular YouTubers such as 29-year-old, SSUNZY uploading videos on applying flawless neautral make-up looks for when you’re wearing a face mask.
Over The Top Blush
Put aside the bronzer because this summer is all about the blusher.
Especially, bold shades of pink to give a glowing complexion – and it’s not just for your cheeks.
This season to get that fresh summer look sweep blusher onto the apples of your cheeks, temples and under your brow bone.
Glitter, gems, pearls and all things nice – think Glastonbury meets everyday.
Big earrings, chunky necklaces, body glitter, hair pieces, the list goes on… Embellishments are summers most talked about trend because it overlaps into so many categories, so remember more is more and there is no right or wrong way to do it.
