Holiday singer, Jade Thirlwall has been praised by fans for posting an emotional message on Instagram discussing insecurity and self-loathing.
The 27-year-old, pop star from South Shields went to social media late last night (August, 12) to share a single image to her 6.6 million followers.
Jade posted a text based image, with a black background and white text – with no picture, or caption.
The post reads: “Insecurity is unattractive
“Yet my mind keeps trying to act ugly
“Using self terroristic tactics
“Til I self implode
“I’m my own worst enemy
“But I wasn’t the first
“I’ve realised the self-loathing isn’t self-taught
“But rather drilled into me
“By an army of insecure adults projecting onto a child
“Conditioned to be a patient of patriarchal society
“And it takes more than an insta quote or an occasional affirmation
“To unpick being picked apart”.
“Isn’t loving yourself really an art?”
Rather than bluntly ending the emotional message, she signed her open letter: “Jade Thirlwall”.
The Little Mix singer received support from her band mates, Perrie Edwards, 27, commented: “This 👏🏼 So relatable my baby girl ❤️”
While Leigh-Anne Pinnock, 28, wrote: “Beautiful ❤️ your amazing x”
Fans have rallied behind the Little Mix star, sending more than 1500 messages of love and support, as well as sharing some of their own mental health experiences.
