The 2020 MTV Video Music Awards took place “live” on Sunday, August 30. However, most of the event, from performances to award presentations were actually taped in advance due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The VMAs was the first major awards broadcast to air since the coronavirus pandemic shutdown production in America – the event being a mix of live and pre-recorded entertainment.
However, one celebrity stole the show, wearing nine different outfits in total throughout the evening, complete with matching face masks – Lady Gaga.
With nine nominations to her name, Lady Gaga accepted awards for artist of the year, song of the year, best cinematography, best collaboration for Rain on Me and the inaugural Tricon award, which recognizes an artist who is highly accomplished across three or more disciplines.
During an acceptance speech Gaga told the audience: “Stay safe, speak your mind, and I might sound like a broken record, but wear a mask — it’s a sign of respect.”
The ‘Rain On Me’ singer gave us two red carpet looks, changed her outfit for every award she accepted and did a costume change during her performance with Ariana Grande.
