John Lewis have launched their Christmas advert for 2020 which highlights the kindness of the British public during the coronavirus pandemic.
The advert, which went live at 7am, on November 13 sends viewers on an emotional journey, as John Lewis hope to spark acts of kindness with their annual Christmas ad campaign which turns the spotlight on the importance of kindness during difficult times.
The campaign begins with a young boy whose football has become stuck in a tree, and moves on to show a series of acts of kindness through live action and animation.
Over the last decade, the well-known department store has treated the public to fairy tales and fantasy with the likes of The Bear and the Hare, Mozz the Moster and our favourite, Edgar the Dragon who warmed hearts around the UK in the run up to Christmas.
This year, John Lewis decided to leave the fantasy world behind and focus on the real situation the nation finds itself in due to the pandemic, and celebrates acts of kindness – and how small or large gestures can trigger a chain reaction, which is fitting considering it’s World Kindness Day.
The retail giant, in partnership with Waitrose hope the campaign, which will run under the strapline “Give a little love” and will support families in need over Christmas.
