Despite lockdown, and tier restrictions put in place this holiday season it appears as if the nation refuses to give up its Christmas spirit. According to new data from Lyst, over the last two weeks searches for items with sequins have increased significantly, by 165% and demand for sequin skirts specifically increased by 26% week-on-week, as well as sequin wide leg pants.
We could assume that the increase in sequin pieces comes down to the five days of Christmas. An initiative put in place by the Government that will entitle three households to mix for five days during the festive period, starting December 23 and ending December 27.
For most of the nation, it’s been months since they’ve seen members of their families outside their households.
The rise in searches for “party pieces” may stem from the fact people are excited to celebrate a holiday with their families, which could explain why “sequin face masks” are trending worldwide. Furthermore, searches for glitter and crystal-embellished shoes increased by 88%.
While shoppers seem to be getting ready for party season, we do hope people continue to remain safe during the festive period.
