We caught up with Emily from Hartlepool-based Bee-autiful Designs – handmade gifts to order for any occasion.
Tell us a bit about yourself
I’m a student nurse and I’ve got three beautiful dogs.
When did you get into craft?
I first got into craft in school. I’ve always loved drawing but I didn’t really do any of it for a long time after I left. I did GCSE art at secondary school.
When did you start your business and why?
I started my business on the February 9th last year. I made my friends who (where getting married) a frame and I had so much fun so I thought I’d start selling them in my spare time.
How has lockdown affected your business?
I think lockdown has been fairly good for my business as more people have started shopping locally and small which is really positive.
What do you love most about art?
I find art so therapeutic; it helps me destress and forget about everything that’s going on in my life.
What do you love most about the north?
I love the north because of the coast. I love being by the sea and I’ve lived right near a beach nearly my whole life.
