Every February 4 is World Cancer Day, a global initiative led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC).
World Cancer Day which launched in 2000, has grown into a positive movement where people can unite under one voice to face one of the greatest medical challenges in history.
By raising worldwide awareness, improving education and catalysing personal, collective and government action the UICC is working together to reimagine a world where deaths caused by cancer are prevented and access to live-saving treatment and care is equal for everyone.
Each year, hundreds of activities and events are hosted around the world by organisations and individuals in support of World Cancer Day. This years theme is “I Am and I Will” which is all about you and your commitment to act.
The UICC believe that through positive action, together reaching the target of reducing the number of premature deaths caused by cancer could be reduced by one third by 2030.
