Drag Race UK Season 3 Episode 2 Recap: Dragoton

With two consecutive maxi challenge wins in the first two episodes Krystal Versace is establishing herself as real competition. However, the real shock of the season in the short time it’s aired has been Victoria Scone’s knee injury which she suffered during her top two lip sync against Krystal during the premiere episode.

Fans of RuPauls Drag Race (US) will remember when Eureka O’Hara left season nine after being injured during a cheerleading challenge. This left a lot of anticipation thought the show as fans waited to find out if history were to repeat itself.

During the mini challenge, Ru challenged last weeks winner Krystal to dish on her fellow contestants where she called Victoria her “biggest competition,” making an backhanded commented about her weight, while Ella Vaday seemed rather smitten to receive the “trade” badge.

This weeks maxi challenge was to get sweaty and become fitness instructors. Divided into three groups: Team Ride or Die with Choriza May, Vanity Milan, and Elektra Fence; Team Ball Busters with Krystal Versace, River Medway, Veronica Green, and Kitty Scott-Claus; and Team Babycizers with Charity Kase, Victoria Scone, Scarlett Harlett, and Ella Vaday.

In the rehearsal, it became clear that a lot of queens are not dancers. But the most uncomfortable thing to watch was Veronica Green and her leotard. As viewer a few words come to mind, funny, awkward and wanting so badly to look away but not being able to. Editing most likely cleaned that up, which means we can only imagine what the queens and poor Oti Mabuse were exposed to.

Quite a few queens stumbled this week, as far as dance challenges go this was one of the most unsynchronised performances probably seen on Drag Race. Surprisingly though it was the self-proclaimed dancers of the season that seemed to slip up this episode, with most of the non-dancers finding themselves safe or in the top, as Krystal walked away with her second RuPeter badge of the season.

Elektra and Vanity were in the bottom two this week. An intense lip sync battle seemed hard to call as both queens brought different styles and tactics to their final fight but in the end it was Elektra who was asked to sashay away.
